Bucks suffer another heavy defeat

Bucks suffered their second successive heavy defeat in the Unicorns Counties Championship when they lost by nine wickets to Lincolnshire in their Eastern Division match at Grantham.
But for battling half-century from teenage debutant Daniel Ogden, Bucks would have suffered an innings defeat.

Put in to bat on the first day, Bucks were bowled out for 150 in 62 overs. AJWoodland top-scored with 36 while Ogden, from Harefield, made 25. Dominic Brown claimed 4-28 for the hosts.
Lincs were soon 0-2 in reply, both wickets falling to Cameron Parsons. But they recovered to 360-9 thanks to Brown who scored 120. Shelvin Gumbs picked up four late wickets to finish with 4-31.
Facing a first-innings deficit of 210, Bucks looked like being beaten in two days, when they slipped to 118-6 in their second innings.
But Ogden offered strong resistance, making an unbeaten 70 from 204 balls. With good support from Robin Pritchard (41) and Matt Rance, Bucks managed to avoid an innings defeat.
They were eventually all out for 240 in 99.1 overs. But Lincs soon knocked off the runs required to win by nine wickets.
Bucks will be looking for an upturn in their fortunes when they play Staffordshire at High Wycombe, starting on Sunday July 16.
