Bucks 262-6 45 overs Dick Decairies 102, George Nelson 52 Steve Lynch 58* Herts 197-7 45 overs E Riddle 52* At Slough CC
Finally, at the fifth attempt, an Over 60s match and a splendid win. Not without traumas as Steve Lynch's throwing arm threw his back out at Cublington and he only played as an emergency extra. This will be the only match with eleven debutants!
Won the toss, and made hay in the sunshine, Dick Decairies innings was the highligh after a strong start. Herts liked to bowl short at George Nelson and heritage took over with hooks and pulls getting a quick 52. .Dick Decaries innings slowed towards the end - age related - but Steve Lynch then thrashed it all over ( without moving) to allow us to amass a good looking score.
Our bowling was under pressure from the start as Trevor Green pulled a calf (Muscle) leaving only three or four fully mobile fielders but the opening attack of Chris Lowe and Kevin Heffernan bowled accurately to put Herts well behind the run rate. An interesting job for captain John Pothecary hiding six fielders ( eat your heart out Sky TV commentators) but we cruised to a thumping win despite some late resistance from Eric Riddle of Herts. which was not enoughhowever to earn the extra batting point.
100% records are rare, keep up the good work!
