On Sunday 8 August Buckinghamshire U10 played Hampshire U10 at the Hardmoor Sports Ground Solent University Buckinghamshire won the toss and decided to bat, scoring 176 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 40 overs Tom Petrie 57 runs Ballinger Waggoners CC and The Beacon School Adam King 11 runs Buckingham Town CC and Bourton Meadow School Ross Hanekom 27 runs The Lee CC and The Beacon School Freddie Thompson 26 runs Ballinger Waggoners CC and The Beacon School Tom Petrie opened the innings and played a fine anchor role, batting 38 overs for his second fifty of the season. He was ably supported by all the batsmen at the other end and a challenging total was set In reply Hampshire were bowled out for 150 runs in 38 overs Hamish Smart 7 overs 1 maiden 30 runs 1 wicket Gerrards Cross CC and Gayhurst School Connor Thomas 8 overs 1 maiden 30 runs 1 wicket Great Kingshill CC and Great Kingshill Combined School Nouman Aslam 8 overs 3 maidens 9 runs 3 wickets Chesham CC and Hawridge and Cholsbury School Albert Johnson 4 overs 0 maidens 22 runs 1 wicket Buckingham Town CC and Buckingham Primary School Hampshire got off to a flier scoring 59 runs of the loss of one wicket in 13 overs. Nouman Aslam came on to bowl and strangled the life out of the Hampshire batsmen and got Buckinghamshire back into the game. Tight bowling and excellent support by the fielders saw the pressure applied further as Hampshire fell further and further behind the required run rate The differance between the two sides was the fielding. Buckinghamshire were superb, with four run outs, Max Hutt was parturalily on fire with two direct hits. The winning margin was the differance in extras between the two sides Buckinghamshire won by 26 runs This was the conclusion of the U10 season. A very fine squad with an excellent team spirit. On Thursday 22 July Buckinghamshire U10 played Cornwall U10 on Pitch 6 Buckinghamshire won the toss and asked Cornwall to bat, who scored 89 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 45 overs Dominic Goodman 8 overs 4 maidens 12 runs 2 wickets Chesham CC and Chesham Preparatory School Freddie Thompson 9 overs 1 maiden 23 runs 2 wickets Ballinger Waggoners CC and The Beacon School Cornwall defended the good balls and attacked the bad balls . As the bad balls were few and far between and as Cornwall were not prepared to be more attacking the runs were not forthcoming In reply Buckinghamshire scored 90 runs for the loss of no wickets in 19.5 overs Adam King 30 runs not out Buckingham Town CC and Bourton Meadow School Tom Petrie 16 runs not out Ballinger Waggoners CC and The Beacon School The Buckinghamshire openers both played very sensibly and saw the team through to victory A very good all round competent performance Buckinghamshire won by 10 wickets At the end of the first day Essex were leading the table, with Buckinghamshire in second place, Berkshire third and Cornwall fourth
On Friday 23 July Buckinghamshire U10 played Essex U10 on Pitch 5 Buckinghamshire won the toss and asked Essex to bat, who scored 167 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 45 overs Connor Thomas 8 overs 1 maiden 37 runs 1 wicket Great Kingshill CC and Great Kingshill Combined School Hamish Smart 9 overs 0 maidens 27 runs 1 wicket Gerrards Cross CC and Gayhurst School Nouman Aslam 5 overs 0 maidens 20 runs 1 wicket Chesham CC and Hawridge and Cholesbury School Freddie Thompson 5 overs 3 maidens 19 runs 2 wickets Ballinger Waggoners CC and The Beacon School The Essex opener W Butterman batted throughout the innings scoring 114 runs not out, the next highest score being 10 runs. Albert Johnson joined Connor Thomas, they both played very sensibly to see Buckinghamshire to the brink of victory A true team performance, with every member of the side contributing to a very fine game of cricket Buckinghamshire tied with Essex At the end of the second day Essex were leading the table, with Buckinghamshire in second place, Berkshire third and Cornwall fourth
On Saturday 24 July Buckinghamshire U10 played Berkshire U10 on Pitch 5 Buckinghamshire won the toss and asked Berkshire to bat, who scored 153 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 45 overs Hamish Smart 9 overs 2 maidens 28 runs 1 wicket Gerrards Cross CC and Gayhurst School Dominic Goodman 7 overs 2 maidens 22 runs 1 wicket Chesham CC and Chesham Preparatory School Joseph Rance 6 overs 1 maiden 18 runs 1 wicket Ballinger Waggoners CC and The Beacon School Albert Johnson 5 overs 0 maiden 21 runs 1 wicket Buckingham Town CC and Buckingham Primary School In the field Buckinghamshire were in control with the score at 109 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 40 overs. Despite a slight flutter with the score at 108 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 32 overs, Ross Hanekom Nouman Aslam and Sam Quinn (8 runs not out, Bledlow Village CC and Gateway School) saw Buckinghamshire through to a comfortable victory Apart from the last five overs of the Berkshire innings another competent performance Buckinghamshire won by 6 Wickets At the end of the festival Essex were first, with Buckinghamshire in second place, Berkshire third and Cornwall fourth A very successful festival for Buckinghamshire who only came second to the winners, Essex by fewer bonus points, both sides having won two games and tied one game
